BABYSITTER’S COURSE (11-15 years old)
Does your teen or tween want to care for younger children? Do they want to earn some extra money?
This Babysitting Course for kids is designed for youth aged 11 – 15. Participants learn how to run a small babysitting business and how to supervise younger siblings or other children in a safe and responsible manner through structured babysitting training. Aspiring babysitters also learn basic first aid skills. We are pleased to offer this program through virtual or remote learning and also in person at select locations.
Course content:
- How to find clients and make money babysitting
- Caring for children of all ages
- Creating safe environments and preventing accidents
- Fire safety and prevention
- What to do in an emergency
- Good decision-making and leadership skills
- Basic First Aid skills
Youth will take home a Babysitter’s Manual and certification card.
Babysitting Course for 11 Year Olds
Our babysitting course for 11 year olds introduces younger participants to the responsibilities of caring for children. These babysitting classes focus on building safety awareness, confidence, and responsibility through age appropriate lessons and interactive activities. Students learn how to prevent accidents, recognize potential risks, and understand how to respond when supervising younger children. This babysitting course for kids helps participants build leadership and communication skills that are important when beginning their babysitting journey.
Babysitting Course for 12 Year Olds
Our babysitting course for 12 year olds helps young teens develop the confidence and practical skills needed to care for younger children responsibly. At this age, many participants are beginning to babysit siblings, relatives, or neighborhood children. Through engaging babysitting training, students learn how to create safe environments, communicate effectively with parents, and handle common situations that can arise while babysitting. The course also introduces basic first aid knowledge and decision-making skills that help young babysitters respond calmly and responsibly when challenges occur.

Virtual Classes Through Zoom Meeting
Virtual Sessions
We will continue to offer Virtual Classes taught through Zoom Meeting technology. The Babysitting course is offered over three or four sessions. Participants will need a device that supports Zoom technology with audio and video capability and high-speed internet. The Zoom Meeting link will be sent by email one day before the course begins.
Virtual classes include a digital copy of the Red Cross Babysitting Manual for the duration of the course. We will mail out a hard-copy of the Red Cross Babysitter’s Manual along with your child’s certificate upon completion of the course.
