The Home Alone Safety for Kids program helps families decide if their child is ready to stay home alone. This program will help empower youth with confidence and skills to care for themselves when home alone!

This class is for students in Grades 4-6 at Bennington Heights Elementary School and will be taught as a lunch time program at over the course of seven lunchtime sessions. The Home Alone Safety for Kids course will run from 11:35 am – 12:25 pm each Wednesday, beginning January 22, 2020 through to Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

In the Home Alone Safety for Kids course participants learn:

  • Street Smarts, including dealing with strangers and tricky people
  • Strategies to create a safe and positive environment and prevent injuries
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to handle emergencies
  • Online safety, fire safety, accident prevention
  • Age-appropriate activities and games when home alone
  • Safe & healthy snacking
  • Basic first aid

About the Home Alone Safety course:

  • Taught by facilitators with a first aid and teaching background
  • All participants receive a participant manual and certificate of attendance
